Glossary

Antimicrobial – Inhibits the growth of microbial contaminants.

Density - The weight per cubic foot of foam.  Density is independent of firmness but is considered an important indicator of foam quality.

Fire Retardant - Flame Retardant foams have flame-retardants incorporated in their formulations to control ignition and the spread of flame.  Use of FR foams in bedding is mandatory under federal law.  Sedona Comfort™ mattresses are 16 CFR Part 1633 compliant.

Foundation - Performs a function similar to that of a box spring except that it’s rigid instead of being flexible.

Memory - The ability of the foam to return to its original state after being compressed or stretched.
Polyurethane - A class of synthetic materials commonly used as foam in a variety of applications including seats, beds, insulation, packaging, etc.

PŪR memory material™ - Foam that relieves body pressure points so you do not toss and turn throughout the night, helps improve circulation and reduces pain and discomfort associated with disruptive sleep.  Sleeps cool unlike similar memory foams.  PŪR memory material™ is the next generation in the bedding industry.

Resiliency - Surface liveliness and spring back ability.

Talalay latex - Natural latex is derived from a rubber tree much like syrup from a maple tree and is naturally environmentally friendly and biodegradable.  It provides superior orthopedic support, offers pressure relief and has built-in antimicrobial properties.  This latex is also dust mite and mildew resistant.

Visco-elastic foam - Sometimes called “visco,” this term is synonymous with memory foam.  Visco is open-cell foam that responds to the weight and heat of your body and relieves pressure.  It comes in many thicknesses, densities, and different levels of softness and firmness.  PŪR memory material™ is classified as a visco-elastic foam.
